Tiger Print Ottoman
“I want a room warm and vibrant, comfortable and welcoming. This is the place I am going to sit and relax, watch TV, or curl up and read. And when my parents come to visit, I want them to feel at home.”
When my client Kay asked me to help her with her family-room design, I considered all her wants and family needs, and put together a room that had it all. We chose a warm and vibrant color palette, with an exchange of bold and understated details, and a mix of traditional-contemporary lines for a softer look.
The room is anchored with a faux fur square ottoman in tiger print, for multi-purpose use. The soft wheat paint on the wall and the tone-on-tone fret key pattern on the sofa allowed us to let loose with the animal print material, with its quiet-bold stripe effect.
The major color players in the room are the art and the red chinoiserie pair of tufted chairs right across from the art.
And for dad’s chair, when he visits, we used a classic brown croco leather in white antique finish and wicker back, for adding more texture.
With all these textures, the room feels extremely comfortable and multi-dimensional. And the overall results are very rewarding.
