Guest Expert: Hillary Beyer, ASID
Interior designer Hilary Beyer transformed this small limited space into a cozy and warm hideaway. Her client needed a spot to unwind from his busy day, just sit, read a book, and take care of the daily mail and paperwork. Hilary, starting with
this beatiful antique Biedermeir secretary desk, used warm earthy colors and various textures to create the desired results.

A comfortable black leather lounge chair with a curvy inviting silhouette together with the straight clean lines of the desk’s parson chair created functionality and comfort.
The unusual tree trunk metal base end table, the built-in shelves with the client’s favorite collectibles, the soft simple window treatment and the old map art on the wall, gave the room a multidimensional look. The final touch was the leopard pony hide area rug, emphasising texture and artistic design. “I like using animal prints as an accent, they add texture and style to any room.
I prefer using them as rugs and carpets in libraries, home offices and on stairs for a more natural, masculine and sophisticated look.”
Hilary has designed interiors for 28 years, 19 in St. Francisco and nine in St Louis and she is based out of Frank Patton Interiors.
