Happy Father’s Day
Among my fondest memories of my Dad is one from when I was 3-4 years old.
Each evening he would read me a story out of the 1001 Nights (The Arabian Nights).
I’d remain completely still as I listened to every detail of these exotic tales of
faraway lands. The mystery, the magic, the tigers and wild animals totally fascinated
me. All I could wish for was to be able to have one real glimpse of these enchantments!
The real jewel, though, from our bedtime stories was Dad’s sharing of himself. This was
one of those times when I knew I had him all to myself.
So many other fine qualities of his also are still with me: his extreme generosity,
open-heartedness, hard work, and joy and passion for seemingly everything in life.
I am so grateful for his example of character strength.
As the Father’s Day nears, I honor his presence and every father’s presence, and for
all the courage, support and guidance they give.
